Micro SD Card Locked No Switch

I talked about how to fix the "memory card locked" error in another post , but what happens if you have a Micro SD card that is locked and has no switch. If you have a micro SD card that shows as locked, the fix is to borrow or buy an SD card adapter. Slot the Micro SD card into the adapter and flick the switch up for unlock. Then, take the Micro SD card out of the adapter and place it in whatever device you were trying to use it in when it gave the "locked" message. It should now be unlocked. Buy an Adapter from: Amazon UK | Amazon USA | Amazon Canada If it isn't unlocked, do the same procedure again but this time put the adapter with the Micro SD card inside into a compatible device and turn it on. It should now show no locked message. Then, take the Micro SD card out of the adapter and you're good to go. I know there are other methods to unlock a Micro SD card with no switch but this is the method that I have always used and it works fine, ev...

Nikon P900 For Bird Photography (Birding)

When it comes to Bridge cameras, they are now widely accepted as the more versatile and affordable option for a large majority of non-professionals when it comes to features, zooming capabilities and image quality for the price. So many people want just one camera that can do it all, and with a good Bridge camera, that is basically what you get. Don't get me wrong, just like with DSLR's and everything in between, there's still a mountain of poor Bridge cameras to sift through to find the really good ones. But do some research online, read lots of reviews, and I'm sure you'll discover some of the true greats that are out there from brands like Nikon, Canon and Panasonic. All images in this post were taken with a Nikon P900 There are so many fantastic models to choose from, but not many really blow you away like the Nikon COOLPIX P900 does. Fair enough, it has no RAW option, is rather bulky (although not overly heavy), the battery life could be better, and is ...

Canon PowerShot S2 IS Memory Card Error

The memory card error associated with the Canon PowerShot S2 IS is fairly widespread. I recently bought an S2 IS and had this problem myself. I have now fixed it, and I will tell you what I did in a moment. That's not to say what fixed it for me will work for everyone who experiences this memory card issue. However, it's certainly worth a try. First off, the Canon PowerShot S2 IS will only hold memory cards up to 2GB. That is the maximum size it can hold. So if you have inserted a 4GB SD card, your problem, or error message is due to the card being too big. If you have stayed within the size boundaries (2GB or less) and the camera is still displaying a card error, here is what fixed it for me. Take the SD card out and put it into another camera. For me the other camera was a Samsung WB500 [ Read about it here ]. Format the card when its inside the other camera. Now place it back in the S2 IS and it should now work fine. That worked for me. Another option if you have a d...

Canon IXUS 127 HS Camera Review

This isn't really a full in-depth review, but more of a first impressions type post about the 16.1 mega pixel Canon IXUS 127 HS. I could be wrong, but from my limited research, I believe that the 127 HS is the same as the 125 HS. If not exactly the same they are at least very similar. Anyway, I've got the 127 HS model, and the reason I bought it was mainly because it can record video @ 1080p "Full HD", and its extremely small in size. And of course the price. In used condition the 127 HS can be found for sale very cheap. With any camera there are good points and bad points. This one is certainly no exception. Straight shooting: All images in this post (other than the one of the actual camera itself) were taken with the 127 HS (Class 10 SD memory card) and have not been edited in any way except for either being made smaller or zoomed into a little to show more detail. Also worth noting: None of the pictures in this post were taken in auto mode. They were all shot ...

Samsung WB500 Digital Camera Review

Samsung WB500 digital camera review. Well more of a revisited / overview really. While I have owned quite a few DSLR's and Bridge Cameras over the years, I also use, and in many ways actually prefer to use on a daily basis, capable point and shoot cameras. Whilst not as high-tech as the many DSLR's, and usually with smaller sensors than both DSLR's and Bridge Cameras, point and shoots can still deliver some impressive results. Add to that how small most of them are, and that most of the newer models can also record HD video, and you can probably see why I prefer them as an everyday carry camera compared to their other, much bigger, and usually much more expensive counterparts. Dandelion with little bugs (Unedited) I'm a simple man. I see, I like, I shoot. Straight shooting: All images in this post have been taken with a Samsung WB500 and have not been enhanced in any way. The only edit has been to make the original images smaller as to not make this post too slow...

Canon S2 IS First Impressions "Review"

First impressions. Those two words seems quite funny considering how old this camera now is. But I have recently purchased an S2, so they are relevant. This is certainly not an in-depth review on the Canon Powershot S2 IS, but more of a quick review / first impressions of what I like and dislike about this camera. First I'll cover what I don't like about this camera. Straight shooting: All images in this post (there's not many), except the ones of the camera itself, were taken with the S2 and have not been edited / enhanced in any way what so ever other than resized (made smaller). What's not so good Well, the two errors consisting of the memory card error issue and " change battery pack " message have been slightly annoying (now fixed). Although neither of them have been difficult to fix and don't present a serious problem really, so they are more of an annoyance than anything else. The electronic view finder (EVF). while it is an old camera...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 "Review". The massive increase in people selling their old point and shoot cameras is at an all-time high thanks to so many people now having a Smartphone capable of taking high quality pictures. I can't tell you how many eBay listing descriptions of people selling cameras I've read that say something along the lines of "don't use it anymore, I've got my phone for taking pictures". All images / content Copyright © Still Paused This trend is not just having an impact on people selling their old point and shoot or Bridge cameras either, it's actually affected the whole camera industry. Camera sales are down across the board, that's all cameras, of all shapes and prices. Smartphones are the main reason. I suppose its just the progression of technology combined with convenience. Why carry around a stand-alone camera. Especially if you're just taking pictures for your own interests, if you have a Smartphone that ...

Canon S2 IS Change The Batteries Problem

What are the best cheap UK battery chargers for charging rechargeable AA batteries. At the moment I've been trying to get a camera to work that suffers from an annoying problem. The problem can be down to a number of things, and what fixes the issue for some people does not work for others. The camera in question is the Canon Powershot S2 IS, and the fault is known as the " Canon S2 IS change the batteries problem ". This is where the camera gives a "change the batteries" message, and won't power up in shoot mode, even though the batteries may be fully charged or just slightly used. There's definitely a common fault here, as its not normal for batteries to run out so fast or not be compatible with the camera, even though they are known to be compatible. Some say its a problem with the camera, while others claim its the rechargeable batteries that are the issue because they are old and worn out. Either that or the camera is just extremely fussy about...
