Teasel Plant Silhouette

Teasel (Dipsacus - Dipsacaceae), or Teazle as some call it. Wild Teasel plant heads (quite widespread in the UK). Shot in black and white with a Panasonic Lumix FZ50 (here), silhouette style and straight from the camera.

Brain Neurons In a Puddle

I have quite a few images of puddle reflections (yes, there is such thing as puddle reflection photography, but this one reminded me of Brain Neurons, so I thought I'd post it here (Camera). It also reminds me of the connections we make with each other. Due to technology, people seem to be more isolated than ever before, looking at screens rather than connecting in person.  So, if this puddle represents the personal connections an average person makes in a year, in comparison, how many squiggles / connections would yours have..

White Fungus On Wood

White Fungus On Wood. This collapsed tree bark is covered in fungus / mould. As well as yellow / orange fungus, it has streaks of white fungus mixed in. A very strange combination. Pictures were taken with a Panasonic TZ1 (review). I have some other photos of the orange fungus which I might post at some point in the future. I think its called Brain Fungus.

Sepia Electric Pylon

An electric pylon shot in Sepia mode. Other than shooting in black and white (which is my favourite type of photography), pictures taken using sepia come in at a close second. Sepia gives everything a retro, nostalgic feel.

Bus Stop Sign UK (West Midlands)

A quick black and white photo of a UK bus stop sign. This is in the West Midlands, around the Meriden / Solihull area. The 89 and X20 stop here!

Welcome to Meriden (Centre of England)

Welcome to Meriden, the centre of England. Well at least it was considered the centre of England for a very long time. But now there seems to be conflicting reports of where the centre actually is. Some claim its in Fenny Drayton, Leicestershire, while others say its Morton, Derbyshire. I don't know. But anyway, here is a picture of what is known to many as the centre of England (Meriden).

Top Of Tree Broke Off (In Half)

This tree has been totally snapped in half, by which, I presume was the result of bad weather. It is being held up in the air by the branches of the other trees, so its basically stuck in the canopy. It's much thicker than it looks, and if it was to fall on a person they would probably die. Or, at the very least be seriously injured. Picture taken with a Canon Powershot S2 IS (here).

Robin's Pincushion Picture

Noticed this very strange reddish strand-like thing on a Rose bush while walking along. Never seen anything like it before. I've come to find out that it is commonly called Robin's Pincushion, and its a common gall that develops on some wild rose bushes when one or more of the rose's buds get injected by a small gall wasp. Picture was taken with a Canon S2 IS.

Above: And here's Robin's Pincushion, on a different bush, at the end of its life. It's purpose served.

Graffiti Art Character Birmingham

Is this a character from a cartoon that I don't know about. Forgive me, I'm not up-to-date on current TV and cartoon characters. If it is, and you know who it is, post a comment below. Funny little character which has a nose that looks like a d*ck!

Anyway, I'm not sure who the artist is who done this work, but I believe this is a commissioned piece, either paid for or designed for free for the back of a community centre in Birmingham. Although I would think the artist was paid to do this, as there are quite a few other pieces of art, in the form of characters next to this one that I may post on this blog in the near future.

Canon EOS 1DX Mark III Mini Review

One of the big professional sport / action cameras that has a buffer capable of holding 1000 raw files. Here is a quick mini review / preview of the new 20 mega pixel Canon EOS 1DX Mark III. DPReview goes through some of the key features of the MK 3 and compares it to the MK II. The Mark 3 includes better battery life, including more shots using live view, great video quality and more. Check out the video below to find out more about this camera, and also see some sample shots.

Nikon Z50 Video Review (Sample Photos)

Nikon Z50 (Z-Series 20.9MP mirrorless) Video Review. Certainly not the best camera to be released over the last few months, but definitely not the worst either. It's very small and compact. You might love it. While some say the image quality isn't the best, and there are better models available for a similar price tag, others praise the Nikon Z50 for its low light shooting abilities, impressive view finder and high quality display. The Z50 contains the same sensor as the D7500. Find out more about the Nikon Z50 in the video review below, which includes some sample photos.

Love Wallart

Bit of a Toy piece, but I like it. We need more love in the world. Because the world seems to have gone mad. The mad men are running the asylum.

Suicide Sadness

I found this while on my travels and photographed it. Finding this message when I did came at a strangely coincidental time in my own life. Coincidence.. Or was I meant to find it when I did.. "People don't die from Suicide, they die from sadness". Miss you Mitch.

Lumix FZ50 @ ISO 1600 - 1/1000 Shutter

A quick example image of the Panasonic Lumix FZ50 @ ISO 1600 - & 1/1000 sec shutter speed. At high ISO, images from the FZ50 have a lot of noise. Looks like night time, doesn't it. Well its not.

ISO 200 and 1/30 sec
And here is how light it really was.. This is @ ISO 200 and 1/30 sec shutter
